Navigating the Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Greetings!

Please note: Information in this message is accurate as of this writing, approximately 4pm on Saturday, March 14, 2020.

We hope this message finds you well! The world is grappling with an issue of enormous scale and human impact, and our hearts go out to all who have been affected by the outbreak of C5oronavirus (COVID-19).

As licensed health care providers in New York State, our number one priority is and always has been YOUR HEALTH AND SAFETY. As such, we want to reinforce our procedures and commitment to protecting you, as well as our staff and doctors.

The protocols we have in place are based on guidance from the New York State Health Department and the CDC which are our usual and standard protocol. In light of these unusual circumstances, our protocols have been expanded well beyond the recommended actions and intervals including sanitizing all surfaces that could come under human touch multiple times per hour. Further, the sign-in procedure will utilize single use stylus.

We also are relaxing our missed appointment policy. If you feel sick or otherwise unable to come into the office due to concerns with COVID-19, there will be no fee for cancelling or rescheduling your appointment with less than 24 hours’ notice.

On that note, if you have an upcoming appointment and have traveled internationally in the last 14 days, OR had close contact with someone who has traveled internationally in the past 14 days, AND you have fever, cough and/or trouble breathing, please first call your PCP’s office. If you do not have a PCP please call The Monroe County Department of Health at 585-753-5555! They will advise you on how to proceed. THEN, when it is feasible, give us a call to reschedule your appointment.

A note regarding immunity: As you know, it is your body’s electrical system (the nervous system) that controls and optimizes your immunity. Your nervous system is like an air traffic controller that directs the army of the immune system in detecting and eliminating invaders. The more powerful your immune system, the less likely you are to get sick. Simple. As you probably have guessed, when your immune system is not working the way it should, it’s really no different than having a 100 watt light bulb operating at 50% – as if it were stuck halfway on the dimmer switch. Does that make sense? We are not suggesting that NeuroStructural Chiropractic Adjustments (which is what we do in our office) is going to ward off coronavirus, or any other virus for that matter. What we are telling you is that it’s completely reasonable to suggest that a perfectly tuned nervous system can optimize your immunity and not only provide some shielding from coronavirus, but very likely all invaders. The other side of the equation is providing your body with what it needs functionally and nutritionally. You’re heard it a thousand times…get enough sleep, stay away from sugary foods and eat a well balanced diet, drink a lot of water, etc.

As we navigate this fluid situation, we will be in contact via our here, Facebook, email and via text and phone regarding changes in schedule and availability. Expect our offices to be open normal hours unless informed otherwise. Thank you for being a loyal patient. As always, if you have any questions please ask.

Perhaps most importantly, please keep an eye on yourselves, your family and your neighbors. IF YOU NEED HELP, we are a family, we here for you and will do whatever we can to assist you so please do not hesitate to ask.

Yours in Chiropractic,
Dr. Charlie, Dr. Stephanie, Lisa, Lisa & Anna
